Dr. Luis Roberto Trivellini: career, innovations and legacy
There are names in hair restoration surgery that come up in every international congress, in every relevant scientific paper of the last decade, in the technical discussions of the world's best surgeons. One of those names is Luis Roberto Trivellini.

From Paraguay to the world
Dr. Luis Roberto Trivellini was born and trained in Paraguay. A physician by training, he specialized early in hair restoration when FUE — Follicular Unit Extraction — was just beginning to emerge as an alternative to the classic FUT method.
What set Trivellini apart from the start was not just surgical skill, but an engineer's vision: the conviction that FUE had a technical ceiling that could be broken if the tools used to perform it were redesigned.
That vision led him to found Mamba Instruments in 2011 — relaunched as Trivellini Tech in 2018 — headquartered in Asunción, Paraguay. The objective: design and manufacture the instruments FUE surgery needed but that didn't yet exist.
Member of the ISHRS elite
The ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) is the organization that sets global standards for hair transplantation. Being an ISHRS Fellow (FISHRS) requires passing a rigorous clinical competency evaluation process.
Dr. Trivellini obtained his FISHRS credential in 2010 and has since been actively involved:
- 10 ISHRS World Congresses as attendee and presenter
- ISHRS FUE Advancement Committee: one of the committees defining excellence protocols in FUE technique
- ISHRS Membership Committee: participation in organizational governance
- Founder and former president of the Paraguayan Society of Hair Restoration Surgery
- Co-founder of the Latin American FUE Workshop
In October 2025 he presented his work at the ISHRS 33rd World Congress in Berlin, one of the most selective events in the specialty.
The 2021 Platinum Follicle Award
In 2021, Dr. Trivellini received the Platinum Follicle Award, the highest recognition the ISHRS grants for clinical research and invention. The award recognized his work on the Long Hair FUE technique and the design of the octagonal Ring Punch for long hair extraction.
That same year, the publication in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology of his paper "Preview long hair follicular unit excision: An up-and-coming technique" consolidated his position as an international scientific reference.
From Asunción to Málaga
In 2023, Dr. Trivellini moved his clinical practice to Málaga, Spain, where he operates his clinic Trivellini Hair Group SLP (Av. de la Aurora 69). The move was not coincidental: Europe, and especially Spain, concentrates growing demand for advanced FUE techniques among a clientele that prioritizes quality over price.
The Málaga clinic operates with the same protocols that made Dr. Trivellini famous: Long Hair FUE, multiphasic system, and surgical care where the surgeon — not technicians — performs the critical phases of the procedure.

Why his work matters for clinics
Dr. Trivellini is a strategic collaborator of TrichoSuite. His technical vision, his knowledge of real surgical workflows in advanced FUE, and his experience with thousands of procedures directly inform how the software manages surgical data, technique documentation, and results tracking.
His clinics use TrichoSuite. And his perspective as a surgeon-inventor helps design the features that make a real difference.
