How does the 3D scanner work?

The 3D scanner uses the LiDAR sensor of the iPhone or iPad to capture the scalp and measure the surface area of each zone, so the doctor can document the case and plan the transplant with measured data.

The problem

Without a scan, the area to treat is estimated by eye from flat photos. Every doctor measures differently, the figures can't be repeated and the patient can't see what is being discussed.

Technician

Capture without touching the plan

While the doctor finishes another consultation, the technician scans the patient with the iPhone, leaves the orientation and chalk marks in place and the model lands in the record. They capture and prepare, but they don't mark zones or delete scans: the medical team decides that.

The doctor opens the scan, paints the recipient and donor zones with the brushes and taps two points to measure in millimeters. If the AI layer proposes zones, the doctor sees them, corrects them and keeps the version they approve.

The doctor rotates the model in front of the patient: the recipient zone in blue, the donor zone in green. The patient understands why a specific treatment is being proposed before any figures are discussed.

Good to know The density proposed by the AI layer is a visual estimate, not a trichoscopic measurement. Zones proposed automatically are not shown to the patient until the team has reviewed them.
